Rome Gathering of Italian Chambers Abroad…

Ms. Ilaria Baldan, the Executive Director of Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada West is in Rome to attend the 18th Meeting of the General Secretaries of the CCIE by Assocamerestero.

On Tuesday, 4 July, at the NH Hotel Villa Carpegna, the one-to-one meetings were held by the delegates of the CCIE and the Companies.

Development of innovative services, communication, European planning are just some of the issues addressed during the first day of this gathering.

On top of it, the goal of this gathering for the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada West has been to further strengthen chamber’s ability to promote its members’ activities and the activities related to our core projects namely the Extraordinary Italian Taste, Italian Design Map, Flavours of Italy, and Up for IT mentoring through collaboration, and exchange of ideas and practices.

For the first time, Italian Day will feature an entire intersection dedicated to food and wine samplings presented by the Italian Chamber of Commerce as the ‘Authentic Italian Table’ Piazza, showcasing more than 10 stations with a variety of participants and products.

Taking up the whole depth of the Grant street intersection, the attraction will offer attendees an opportunity to experience authentic Italian food products, fine wines and liquors, and gastronomic delights created in collaboration with local chefs.

Today, Italian cuisine is re-interpreted and reconstructed across the globe. The end result is that what Canadians may be familiar with as Italian food isn’t really Italian due to misused ingredients or using products without DOP and IGP certifications. The Authentic Italian Table is bringing back pure
flavours, celebrating certified Italian ingredients and bringing Canadians the extraordinary taste of
traditional dishes.

The program The Extraordinary Italian Taste – Promotion and Enhancement of the authentic Italian
agri-food products is promoted and financed by the Ministry of Economic Development in
collaboration with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada West (ICCC) and other eight Italian
Chambers of Commerce in North America (Montreal, Toronto, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles,
Miami, New York and Mexico City).
The project is part of a national campaign whose main goal is to promote awareness in North
America about the authentic and certified agri-food Italian products, as in the continent
supermarkets’ shelves extensively host many products evoking Italy, neither having any connection
to Italy, nor involving an Italian manufacture.

Taking place from November 20th to December 4th, the initiative is designed for Pizzerias and Restaurants in the Greater Vancouver Area and in Calgary.

During those two weeks, participating Pizzerias and Restaurants are invited to develop and promote a special two-week menu featuring Italian DOP & IGP products.

If you are a Pizzeria or a Restaurant:

The Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada-West will sponsor the purchase of DOP & IGP products to Pizzerias and Restaurants that are ICCBC members, and promote initiatives and events of all participating businesses.

If you are a Food importer / Distributor / Vendor:

The Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada-West will refer your business to all participating Pizzerias and Restaurants for the purchase of products and promote your business through all Chamber’s channels.

The Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada-West, in cooperation with the Consulate General of Italy, is hosting a unique event on June, 22nd 2017 to celebrate the Italian Heritage Month.

Top Vancouver chefs Pino Posteraro and Angus An, hosted by resident chef Nathan Brown will prepare live their signature dishes using a set of selected authentic Italian products especially flown for the event!
Celebrate the Italian Heritage Month with a superior Italian culinary experience including: an open-bar wine reception featuring premium Italian wines, appetizers, and a 6-course dinner!

Enjoy a night full of surprises, door prizes and a silent auction with Made in Italy products and design items!

The Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada–West (ICCC) has operated since 1992 as a private, non-profit, membership organization.

Our generous members will donate some unique Made in Italy design items, gift certificates for local Italian restaurants, food and wine baskets and much more! The proceeds of the auction will help us pursuing our mandate of promoting and enhancing business, trade and investment exchanges between Italy and Western Canada, and to educate the Canadian consumers about the characteristics of authentic Italian agri-food products.

ICCBC AT THE NAFTA MEETING IN NEW YORK

The NAFTA area meeting of Presidents and Secretary Generals of the Chambers of Commerce in North America took place on April 28^th-29^th in New York.

In the picture above, for ICCBC, the President Celso Boscariol and the Secretary General Ilaria Baldan. The meeting has provided an important moment of reflection, brainstorming, coordination and exchange of best practices for all the North American Chambers.

ICCBC is proud to be able to count on the collaboration of a very “extraordinary” network!

Great Success for the masterclasses on Italian PDO and PGI products in Vancouver!

In the occasion of the First Week of Italian Cuisine in the world (21st – 27th, November 2016), ICCBC in collaboration with the General Consulate of Italy in Vancouver, and the VCC -Vancouver Community College, organized two masterclasses on Italian PDO and PGI products within the Extraordinary Italian Taste project (#italiantaste).

It was a great opportunity to discover more about the great Italian food tradition and to understand the nutritional benefits of using PDO and PGI products from Italy.

Special thanks to Chef Pino Posteraro from Cioppino’s Mediterranean & Grill Enoteca and Chef Adam Pegg from La Quercia restaurant for teaching us some amazing recipes, and to Vancouver Community College for being such a great host!
